Seven out of ten people answered, “I’m still trying to figure that out.” Psychometric tools helped me answer those questions, understanding my purpose and living my dreams.
Psychometric is a psychological term for measuring skills, abilities, personality traits and achievements. You may know many of the popular tools like Myers Briggs or Princeton Review.
I've learned to respect the ancient tools like Western, Mayan and Taoist astrology.
As an executive recruiter, I used psychometric tools for matching job candidates to companies. Strong’s Interest Inventory matches your personality to daily job duties. I was equally matched between a Farmer, Banker, Advertising Executive and a Florist. I haven’t done any of those jobs but do enjoy aspects of them.
For four years my staff and I traveled across West Texas as career coaches to high school students. I published three books on career tips for teens and young adults from that experience. And in the classroom, my favorite tool to use with students was the Pig Personality Test. A simple but effective tool, do try it when you get the chance.
Psychometric tools are observational social sciences. Darwin wrote in his book "Origin of the Species" that the mammal that adapts to change survives and thrives. Human existence is designed for continual evolution.
Technology has sped up our evolution and possibly our destruction as a species. Yet our education systems has not prepared us with these interpersonal skill development. So we need to do it ourselves.
In the biblical story of the Magi, we learn about three kings who used the stars to direct them to the birth of the baby Jesus. Think about it, three guys without GPS using astronomy, astrology and prophecy. Looking for two refugees, hiding out in a barn with their newborn. If these guys can find and make history, we can too.
There are dozens of astrological systems used around the planet. My top three are Chinese or Taoist, Western and Mayan. They cover relationships, career, love life, health, travel, political and planetary changes. We’ll include the modern tool - Human Design for understanding yourself, your purpose and relationships.
Chinese Astrology uses animal characteristics in comparing human behavior. Represented mostly by common animals from rural life. The stubbornness of sheep, comfort seeking pigs and the roaming tendencies of horses. Understanding these characteristics are important in developing harmonious relationships with potential partners.
The Mayan Astrologers observed the cycles of time and synchronicity. The sixties group the Fifth Dimension sang about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
The Mayans follow 17 cycles including the solar cycle to chart the synchronicity of time. They look at life on the planet from the fourth dimension. Answering the question of purpose in this third dimension incarnation? That answer lies in learning about your birth symbol or glyph. The Gregorian calendar we use today is a political construct that ignores the natural cycles of the planet.
Western astrology compares date, time and location of your birth with other planets in our solar system. And observes their influences on human life. Wiki lays it out like this "A central principle of astrology is integration within the cosmos. The individual, Earth and its environment are viewed as a single organism, all parts of which are correlated with each other. Cycles of change that are observed in the heavens are therefore reflective (not causative) of similar cycles of change observed on earth and within the individual. This relationship is expressed in the Hermetic maxim "as above, so below; as below, so above", which postulates symmetry between the individual as a microcosm and the celestial environment as a macrocosm."
“Millionaires don’t get their astrological charts done, Billionaires do.” J.P. Morgan, Chase Bank
When I got my chart done it was from a Master Astrologer with 35 years of experience. What I learned in that recorded session surprised me not only with the accuracy in the timing of events but also the consistency was beyond a lucky guess or suggestion. As a predictive tool, it accurately charted two years in advance the meeting of a significant love in my life.
Human Design was downloaded to Ra Ur Hu in 1987. He incorporated western Astrology, Chakra system, Kabbalah, IChing, neutrino and quantum physics. Human Design is best described as the operating manual for the human body. It helps you understand and navigate your strengths and weaknesses. Thus avoiding frustration and bitterness as the key trademarks of its value.
With five different designations, Human Design charts it requires a trained counselor to interpret. Start with your free chart available at Jovian Archives site. YouTube has several videos you can learn about the general profiles of your specific type. We used the Penta in Human Design to understand the strengths and gaps in developing our team.
The best way to apply these tools is to use them like a “How to Paint” guide. Knowing the brushes, strokes and colors will give you a basis for creating your art. It will not duplicate the artists work but by knowing the tools you can create your own art.
My favorite lesson from the Mayans is: Time (Energy) = Art. We are all here to use the time we have multiplied by focused energy to create the work of our hands, lives as our art.
We often think we stumble into our careers. But we become them by the choices we make. The art we create is our work. All of it influenced by love, employment, beliefs, family and location.
I hope you've read enough about near death experiences to understand that consciousness exists before after death. I see life as a game we jump into by being born. Then we are here to learn from our experiences.
"Pray you live a long time so that you can learn the lessons in this lifetime and not have to repeat them." Dali Lama
We can assist our lives by learning about ourselves. It's knowledge plus experience that equals wisdom. Ask the questions of your purpose and when the answers start to show up - learn!
