In the Huna religion, courtesy of the Hawaiian people they have learned some amazing stuff about the concept of God. The late Dr. Joshua Stone called Huna ‘the purest religion on the planet’. They’ve come to understand how spiritual communication works without the politics of control and manipulation.
So here’s a nugget I gained from them. When challenged with a decision you can’t make we often turn our heads up to the sky and ask for guidance. We may be there for awhile as I have been waiting for some portable easy to follow instructions. It doesn’t work that way and now I understand why.
We have three types of consciousness:
- Ku or Subconscious
- Lono or Consicous Mind
- Aumakua or Superconscious Mind
With the subconscious it’s main purpose is to store our memories. It’s the automatic thinking stuff and our good and or bad habits. It influences our actions and feelings. It also keeps us up at night worrying and replaying the tapes of memory in our head all night long.
The conscious mind is where we are actively working and making decisions to change our physical world, bodies and subconscious areas like trying to stop our bad habits like smoking, drinking or create new healthier habits like eating healthy and exercise.
But then there is the all important superconscious, this is where we get the divine inspiration from. Well here’s the trick. God/Goddess/Universe or whatever name you want to give this superconscious does not interfere. We got this gift for being human called Free Will. Fellow humans may manipulate and lie to have you believe you don’t have it, but you do. And the heavens respect it. The superconscious follows once the conscious makes a decision with a confirmation, inspiration and ideas to support you. It’s like an atta-boy for you choice. I can imagine my angels watching me like a great sports game rooting and cheering when I go for the goal.
I’ve been housesitting up in the jungle mountains of Northern Thailand. I need to move today and the cute house around the corner just became available yesterday. So I’m hemming and hawing wondering if I should take this remote little writing space for myself or not. The price is right, I have great neighbors but will need things (i.e. more money) to get settled. However I’m stuck, I can’t make a decision. I remember standing in the yard of my neighbor, looking up to heaven saying out loud ‘Okay God I really need a sign this time, should I take this?” Then I remember it has never worked that way for me, God comes in confirmations.
I do a muscle check, get a yes and communicate my decision. On the way home, it starts to hit me, I can fulfill my dream for a bed and breakfast for writers and seekers who like me need to get away for a bit. It’s the room of my own that I’ve always wanted, away from the city and the temptation of distraction, but close enough to get there when I need to. Confirmation came that quickly. I get the excitement, joy and peace that I made a good decision and can begin planning and building my dream cottage for guests and myself.
And then the best part happens. I’m sitting back at the neighbors house reading a book off her shelf “Mastering Your Hidden Self A Guide to the Huna Way” by Serge Kahili King and I read this:
“It is sad to see someone waiting for his Higher Self to tell him what to do, because it just won’t happen. Once the person decides for himself what to do, however, the superconscious makes available an abundance of ideas, knowledge and energy to carry it out.”
And this about the superconscious “…it gives guidance, information and inspiration but not does not give orders.”
Everything I’ve learned about free will supports that because we are free thinking conscious beings having a human experience. Making decisions is part of that human thing we chose to do. Enjoy the choices you want for your life. As the Huna say: Bless the Present, Trust Yourself and Expect the Best.
